November 2011 News

November is drawing to a close and the time to prepare for Christmas has begun. In Camphill we very much believe in celebrating the festivals which means that the advent time is a very busy but also beautiful time. We sing a lot , come together to read stories and usually are very busy with rehearsing a play for Christmas. Some of the evenings are spent making crafts both for ourselves to decorate our houses and for presents for family, friends and neighbours. The hoses are filled with delicious smells when delicious biscuits and cakes are being made - and the house becomes a little brighter when every Sunday another candle is being lit to mark the weeks of advent.

This year we will also be busy with getting things ready for our craft fair which will be held on the 11th of December in Doonsheane. As we were so busy with our music week in November it will be a bit later and closer to Christmas and also a bit smaller - but it still will be a nice afternoon out.

The Music week and the resulting concert on the 11th of November were a huge success. All the Camphill people from all over the country had a great time and enjoyed their time in Dingle. The concert was very well attended - and it was wonderful to be able to have the use of the Blasket centre. I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who helped to make such an event possible - it would have not have been so successful otherwise.

Its been a sunny week so our place looks lovely in the autumn sun. A lot of seaweed has been carted into the garden and the barn is being prepared to house the couws for the winter.

On Sunday our visitors arrived on the land - lots of people from different Camphill Communities all over the country. It was like a Mini-Open Day - and once again we were blessed with wonderful weather.

By the time this is being read all these visitors and the members of our Community will be well on the way rehearsing music for our concert on friday - and we will be having a lot of fun - which is bound to happen when 105 people are playing music together. A 105 -strong orchestra will be playing on friday the 11th at 8PM in the Blasketcentre. Tickets can be bought at the door and everyone is welcome.
